There is no news update currently for the Big Local.

The Local Trust have said, however, that we will hear from the Rep soon with a plan. This was to start with a meeting with all interested, especially in reaching out to more as many people as possible.

A local resident has been looking into an Internet Forum for us all, which will give information and give poeople the opportunity to give their comments.

Meeting has been delayed. Currently clarification is being sought regarding the reason and what the current plans are for (all) residents to be involved (if they wish). After all, it is meant to be resident-led amongst other things .

Currently a letter has been written to the Local Trust and the Rep from 19 residents requesting support with the following:


1/ it’s important that all people in Somers Town are informed about the Big Local funding for residents in Somers Town with information through their door?

2/ decisions should be made inside of (open) meetings with residents (and not outside of meetings)?

3/ time should be given to discuss in meetings with clear voting considered?

4/ a) accounts information (what funding has been spent on) must be easily accessible eg on demand?
b) all residents should have a very good chance of contributing towards the agenda for meetings?

The Rep replied saying that there will be a new Rep, and as if ideas are being listened to, however, we still have no clear idea about what is going on, are not being included at all in decisions about what the Start Up money has been spent on (I have only been told that it has already been decided and it seems that this is to give it to nonresidents).

Mention was made too of wanting to include all areas of Somers Town, however the people who had put their name to our residents' letter were really quite spread out, so this really would seem just to be an excuse, especially when they have not been interested in residents' views at all, and for example residents' previous decision (at the Rep's own meeting) to let everyone know around Somers Town with a flyer through their door.

A new Big Local Rep John Ord took over. Prevoius plans were scrapped and an organisation given the Start Up funding to organise the Partnership group.
